To be able to do this effectively we need to implement a number of control and protection measures. We do not make these decisions lightly and we appreciate that this will cause a level of discomfort, but we believe that this is a necessary step to take.
As a preventative measure, we are asking family members and friends to minimise the frequency of visits and the number of visitors at any one time to ALL our care homes. This will be until further notice to help us mitigate the risk to our residents.
Please be prepared to be asked the purpose of your visit on entrance AND please accept the decision made by our teams about admission, acknowledging that this is a very challenging and quickly changing situation.
There may be situations that require direct family members to make ‘non-routine’ visit, in these situations we ask that you discuss this with the Home Manager so we can ensure that all the appropriate precautionary measures are taken, and any potential risk is minimalised.
In addition, we are limiting visits for the foreseeable future, including: -
- All general visits from the community;
- External activities & entertainment;
- Non-essential maintenance.
During this stage of the outbreak our staff will continue to do all they can to ensure that life in our homes remains a positive social experience. We have reasonable contingency plans in place to continue to deliver a wide range of activities and occupation and are thankful for the support of our ‘screened’ volunteers.
We will also endeavour to ensure that essential health visits continue and will be liaising directly with our health & social care partners to promote positive health outcomes.
Be assured that we are closely following the guidance provided by the Public Health authorities to ensure that our teams are supported to continue to deliver great care whilst keeping our residents safe.
